Stan was my only Dutch driving teacher, so I don’t have anyone to compare him to. I can talk about my experience with him though. I’ve been driving for over 30 years in many countries, but I had to relearn everything here. What they expect in the Netherlands is completely different from what I’ve been doing. It’s like learning a new language. It’s extremely specific and often doesn’t make sense, but that’s what they want, and I can’t imagine anyone teaching it better than Stan did. I tried explaining this to my friends back home in the USA and they couldn’t believe it. There they basically just handed me a license and said “have fun.” You’re lucky if he accepts you. I’m so glad to be done with this challenge, but I’ll genuinely miss chatting with him. I consider him a friend now. He made the process actually feel worth doing. He knows his material extremely well and is great company too. Most importantly, he showed me how to drive safely here, how to break the habits I didn’t know I had, and how to pass the test, which I did easily today on my first try. Stan the man! Good vibes, chill, calm, patient, everything to make a great driving instructor. Chose him initially because he offered competitive prices, and really lucked out to have him! Highly recommended especially for expats/international learners!

Stan's the man! I have been driving for 15 years, but, my driving was not "Dutch enough" for the Netherlands. Stan got me to pass this absurd driving test. If you're coming from abroad, I know how frustrating it can be to have to retest for your license. Stan was so understanding of that frustration, and brought the chill. He's really the guy. Even if you've been driving for 20 years, it's absolutely necessary to take the lessons to pass the Dutch drivers test. So, go with Stan. He'll make it pain-free.

Great driving school, and I had a great time driving with Stan! Stan is a knowledgeable and patient instructor teacher who helped me build more confidence on the road. Not only will he take his time to explain the steps in order to drive well and safely, but he will also tailor his teachings based on the student's concerns. Stan is a positive and calm teacher and is critical when needed to improve the student's skills. I feel calmer and more confident now behind the wheels. Thank you!

I have passed the driving exam today and I highly recommend Stan. He is an excellent instructor who first guides you through the journey of building your driving skills, then building your driving confidence, and finally, polishing the skills to the level required for the exam. He may seem to be a bit too critical to mistakes, but he points them out only to set the perfection level, which is never achievable, but it is necessary to motivate you to improve every lesson. He is fluent in English, so Drive-a-lot is the place to go if you are an expat. Two additional points: 1. Stan is simply a very positive, nice and interesting person. It is especially important for the “learners from scratch” as you will spend around 40 hours with him during classes. It is better to spend this time of your life with a good instructor AND an interesting person, rather than with a “it is just my job” type. 2. With Stan you will have lessons in one of the coolest learning cars in the area that I have seen (Audi Q4). It is not only more pleasant to spent 40 hours in a “cool” car, but it helps during driving and the exam: with powerful engine, 360-degree parking cameras and SUV-type high driving position, which really makes judging distances and car’s dimensions easier.
