I’m writing this review for English‑speaking candidates who want to obtain an A licence. I passed the motorcycle theory (self‑study) and the AVB exam (with help from Tom) on my first attempt. However, I changed schools after failing the AVD exam. The reason for my decision wasn’t the failed exam itself, but my overall learning experience at Tom de Keizer. The AVB lessons were crowded and there didn’t seem to be enough attention from instructors (at least for me). I felt I wasn’t progressing enough during each lesson. I repeatedly asked to be paired with an English‑speaking student so I could learn from the feedback given to other students during AVD lessons, but this request was rarely accommodated. Even the feedback given directly to me didn’t feel constructive and, at times, felt somewhat patronizing. After each AVD lesson, I felt very demotivated with very little improvement. I switched to a different school in Amsterdam. My experience there was the complete opposite: I received proper feedback and the motivation I needed. I didn’t change schools after failing another AVD attempt, because that mistake was purely mine—and in the end I passed and obtained my A licence on the third attempt. Tom, you asked me to let you know if I passed—yes, I did.
